🚨 California’s AB 495 is being sold as the “Family Preparedness Plan Act of 2025”—but in reality, it opens dangerous loopholes that child traffickers and kidnappers can exploit.

Under this reckless bill, anyone claiming a distant familial or “mentoring” connection could gain authority over a child with nothing more than an affidavit. Schools would be barred from contacting CPS, relying only on an ID and a flimsy form 💸—leaving children vulnerable.

Family abductions already account for nearly 49% of child abductions nationwide. Instead of protecting kids, AB 495 hands predators an easy path to take control of their schooling, medical care, and residence.
